In the last few weeks, we have had 10 more social workers and 3 more mental health counselors pass the licensure exam! Congratulations! You all did wonderful, and I'm glad that I was able to witness your journey! Enjoy being imminently licensed!
Please take a moment to congratulate them for their success! Or to those of you who passed, please share any helpful feedback for others who will be taking the exam soon!
Maslow (1970) identified 15 characteristics of a self-actualized person. Here are several:
Characteristics of self-actualizers:
1. They can tolerate uncertainty;
2. Accept themselves and others for what they are;
3. Problem-centered (not self-centered);
4. Unusual sense of humor;
5. Able to look at life objectively;
6. Highly creative;
7. Concerned for the welfare of humanity;
8. Establish deep satisfying interpersonal relationships with a few people;
Behavior leading to self-actualization:
(a) Experiencing life like a child, with full absorption and concentration;
(b) Trying new things instead of sticking to safe paths;
(c) Listening to your own feelings in evaluating experiences instead of the voice of the majority;
(d) Being prepared to be unpopular if your views do not coincide with those of the majority;
(e) Working hard;
(f) Trying to identify your defenses and having the courage to give them up.
Which 1 or 2 will you try this week?
Sometimes it only takes a few minutes a day to prevent anxiety and depression, as well as other symptoms of stress, from adding up! It also does not have to take a long time to fully resolve these issues. You can try doing something relaxing like taking a bath, listening to music, reading a book, planting a flower, or other techniques I can share with you that are more therapeutic therapy related. Let me know how I can help!
